Despite a renewed emphasis on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education to keep America globally competitive, many experts contend that students remain woefully ill-prepared in technology and engineering--the core of the STEM disciplines. Hoping to change that, many educators are turning to robotics, holding design competitions, and challenging classmates to outdo one another in a battle for technical supremacy.
